Airbrush Tanning

What is airbrush tanning?

Sunless tanning is a concept that has been around for decades. Due to the increase in skin cancers related to UV exposure, sunless tanning has become much more mainstream, as it is safer than traditional tanning. There are many options nowadays including lotions, gels, sprays, etc. DHA is the active ingredient in all sunless tanning products. Dihydroxyacetone is derived from sugar cane. It was approved by the FDA in the 1970s for use as a cosmetic ingredient. DHA reacts with the amino acids in the outermost layer of the skin, producing a brown color that resembles a suntan. When a trained technician applies a tanning solution in an airbrush form to your skin, the result is a beautiful, golden glow!

Will I turn orange or smell funny?

The biggest concern of most is turning orange. In years past, it was difficult to achieve a natural look. However, science and technology have greatly improved over the years, and the results with the right product are believable and lasting. At Grazia Spa, we believe in the safety of our clients and technicians. Our spray tanning solution consists of eco-certified DHA (derived from sugar cane). It is vegan friendly and nut-allergen and paraben free. It does not produce any offensive odor, as it is scented with natural, essential oils.

How long will my tan last?

A spray tan fades like a tan from the sun. As the dead layers of the skin slough away, the tan will also fade. Keeping your skin well hydrated and moisturized will help lengthen the life of your tan. As everyone has different lifestyles, skin conditions, climates, etc. it will vary from person to person. However, it generally lasts 5-7 days.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

  • Exfoliate skin with a non-oily scrub or loofah (loofah gloves with a non-oily shower gel work great) and do not apply body lotion, oils, perfumes, deodorant, or makeup.
  • Waxing or shaving should be done 24 hours ahead of time to reduce the risk of irritation.
  • Schedule manicures and pedicures 24 hours ahead of time, so as not to interfere with tan developing.

Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation treatment that involves the use of surgical blade to stimulate collagen and epidermal skin while also removing fine vellus hair or "peach-fuzz." This process of removing the top layers of dead skin enhances cellular turnover and can improve the efficacy of clinical skin care treatments and products that follow afterwards.

What can I expect during my treatment?

Dermaplaning can be done alone or in conjunction with another treatment such as a chemical peel. This treatment can be repeated every 4 weeks as desired to maintain the results of a smoother, hair-free face.

Will the hair grow back denser?

No, dermaplaning does not cause the hair to become darker or denser As long as the hair is superficial and "peach-fuzz"-like to begin with, its growth rate and texture will remain the same.

Am I a candidate for dermaplaning?

Most people are candidates, as there is little or no downtime. However, the use of retinols, glycolic acids, and facial scrubs should be avoided immediately after, and the use of retinols and glycolics should be stopped one week prior to treatment to reduce sensitivity.

The following are contraindications:

  • Active acne
  • Recent chemical peels / microdermabrasion / microneedling
  • Chemotherapy / radiation
  • Eczema / dermatitus
  • Family history of keloid scarring
  • Hemophilia
  • Oral blood thinners
  • Scleroderma
  • Skin cancer
  • Sunburn
  • Active infection such as herpes simplex, warts, raised lesions, moles
  • Rosacea

Eyebrow Lamination

What is Brow Lamination?

Brow lamination is a treatment that creates the illusion of volume and fullness to the eyebrows, while giving a groomed, well-kept brow shape for up to 2 months. The existing eyebrow hair can be directed upwards, sideways or downwards to create a different brow texture, filling in gaps where needed, and defining them, thus creating the illusion of a fuller brow.

Why consider Brow Lamination?

The Brow Lamination procedure is fantastic for most hair types!

Brow laminations are great for filling in gaps, adding symmetry, definition and fullness, taming unruly or curly brows, and giving the illusion of fuller, more vibrant eyebrows.

  • Great addition or alternative to Microblading, if you're not a good candidate to have that treatment done (example: on high blood pressure medicine, keloid scarring)
  • Can reshape natural brows with a more defined arch if desired
  • Results last 6-8 weeks, depending on your hair growth / shedding cycle
  • Helps better maintain desired brow shape when growing out areas of sparse eyebrows
  • Saves time in your morning routine!

Who is not a good candidate for Brow Lamination?

Brow lamination is not recommended for anyone with the following conditions:

  • Open scratches, sores, burns, or inflamed skin near the eye area
  • Skin conditions such as eczema, or inflammation in the eyebrow area
  • Contagious skin disorders
  • Recent scar tissue
  • Known sensitivity or allergy to products including tints/dyes
  • Recent or current chemotherapy treatment
  • Pregnancy or nursing

Aftercare

For optimum results, please follow these suggested aftercare tips.

For the first 24 hours after the treatment we recommend the following:

  • Avoid touching or rubbing the hairs to ensure they stay in the correct direction
  • Avoid getting your brows wet, specifically no showers, hot baths, swimming, excessive sweating, steam rooms/saunas (24 hrs minimum, 48 hours is ideal)
  • No other facial beauty treatments for 24 hours
  • Sleep on your back if possible the first night

After the first 24 hours we recommend:

  • Regular use of a brow conditioning serum between appointments helps keep brows in the best possible condition
  • Avoid harsh cleansing products on the brows (exfoliating cleansers/scrubs, etc.)
  • Gentle brushing of brows is fine
